The Texas Five program started in the summer of 2011 when Will and Sara Wallace selected five Texas actors to study at WWAC in Los Angeles. It is an intensive program where originally the Texas Five would study in all six of the ongoing classes ranging from 1 to 3 months during the summer. Since the program was so successful, a Winter Intensive and Spring Weekend Intensive were added as well. This year welcomes our second group of winter Texas Five students! With an overwhelming response and applicants for 2012’s Winter Intensive, the program was expanded to Texas Five +5! Interested actors submitted their headshot, resume, and a one page letter about themselves. After careful review of all of submissions, five men and five women were selected.
This spring, WWAC looks forward to doing the second annual Spring Weekend Intensive where five Texas actors will have the opportunity to study directly with Will. Studies include cold reading, character development, on camera work, scene study, improvisation, and audition technique. Most of the classes take place during the evening and actors can take an opportunity to audition while in Los Angeles. The cost of the intensive covers the price of class. Actors are responsible for their own transportation and lodging. Deposits are due a month prior to the program start date to secure a spot.
The Texas Five program has been a huge success with many students booking roles during their stay in Hollywood. Will always invites guest filmmakers to sit in on class and see the students, giving the students opportunities to showcase scenes and network with top industry professionals. Among past Texas Five successes are Lindsey Morgan (who stayed in LA after the program, booking a role in the feature film “Detention” and landing a part as a series regular on “General Hospital”), Payton Wood (booked a supporting role in the feature film “The Appearing”) and Sara Amini (booked a popular game show, “Catch 21” and won $26,000)!
Future Texas Five admission deadlines are announced about two months in advance. If you would like to be notified or receive additional information on how to submit, please contact us for instructions.
